Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has held a meeting with the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabagi Yusuf Sani, alongside other senior party officials.
The meeting, which took place on Saturday at Atiku’s residence in Abuja, has fueled speculation about possible realignments among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
This development comes amid growing rumours of a potential alliance involving former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ex–Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who are said to be considering the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
Such a move could complicate Atiku’s own political ambitions, as he is also believed to be interested in contesting the presidency on the ADC ticket.
However, ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani downplayed the speculation, clarifying that his meeting with Atiku was neither about a party merger nor the recruitment of any individual into the ADP.
