
The North East Development Commission (NEDC), under the leadership of its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Goni Alkali, has officially commenced the construction of the 77-kilometre Damaturu–Gujba–Buni Yadi–Magza Road in Yobe State.
The flag-off ceremony was performed by the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, alongside the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, and the NEDC Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Dr. Garba Iliya, among other senior officials from the Commission and the state government.
The project spans a total of 77 kilometres along the Damaturu–Buni Yadi–Magza corridor and includes comprehensive rehabilitation works such as material filling, provision of sub-base and base courses on shoulders, construction of earth drains, and the application of a 40mm-thick asphalt overlay.
The road reconstruction will be implemented in two phases. Work has already commenced on Phase I, which covers 25 kilometres and has been duly awarded and mobilised.
