The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni Alkali, has led a high-level delegation to inspect the newly completed two-span, 30-metre bridge in Gubja, Yobe State.
He was accompanied by the Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Dr. Abubakar Garba Iliya, alongside other senior officials of the Commission.
The bridge, constructed by Greland Multiple Investment Company Limited, was previously washed away by last year’s devastating flood. Its successful reconstruction is expected to greatly enhance road connectivity, stimulate economic activities, and ease the movement of people and goods within Yobe State, particularly linking communities in Southern Borno and Adamawa States.
During the inspection, the NEDC Managing Director commended the Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, for his continuous support and collaboration with the Commission in driving developmental projects across the state.
The project forms part of NEDC’s broader mandate to rehabilitate and rebuild critical infrastructure across the North-East region, especially in areas affected by flooding and other disasters.
The inspection team comprised senior NEDC officials, representatives of the Yobe State Government, and project consultants.
