President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), with Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa set to exit the cabinet

‎According to a statement issued by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, a memo signed by George Akume confirmed that the two ministers will step down, with their replacements already designated.

‎Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who now assumes the role after previously serving as Minister of State in the same ministry.

‎In the same development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as the ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, while Dangiwa is to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

‎The memo further directed that all handover processes must be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

‎Explaining the rationale behind the reshuffle, Akume said the move is aimed at strengthening cohesion and synergy in governance, as well as enhancing effective economic delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

‎He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.

‎The President also appreciated the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours, while assuring remaining cabinet members that efforts to reinvigorate governance will continue.
