Former Zamfara Governor’s Ex-Aide Alleges Dadiyata Was Killed in His Presence

‎Fresh controversy has emerged over the disappearance of Nigerian lecturer and social media critic Abubakar Idris, following shocking allegations made by a former aide to ex-Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle.

‎Musa Muhammad Kamarawa, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Matawalle, alleged that Dadiyata was killed in his presence, according to a statement currently circulating across social media platforms.

‎The allegation, reportedly written in Hausa and shared in a screengrab online, has triggered widespread reactions from activists, security analysts, and political commentators calling for an independent investigation into the long-standing disappearance case.

‎Dadiyata’s Disappearance Returns to Public Attention

‎Abubakar Idris was abducted by unidentified gunmen from his residence in Kaduna on August 1, 2019. Since then, his whereabouts have remained unknown, despite years of public campaigns demanding answers.

‎Dadiyata was widely known for his outspoken criticism of political leaders and northern state governments through his social media commentary.

‎The latest allegation by Kamarawa has once again revived national conversations surrounding enforced disappearances, human rights concerns, and accountability within Nigeria’s security system.

‎Kamarawa Accuses Police Officers of Threats and Intimidation

‎In a separate petition reportedly submitted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kamarawa accused two senior police officers — CSP Hussaini Gimba and CSP Hassan Gimba — of extortion, illegal house searches, seizure of property, and conducting what he described as a biased investigation against him.

‎According to the petition, Kamarawa claimed he was pressured during interrogation sessions not to disclose details of his relationship with Bello Matawalle.

‎He further alleged that he was threatened and warned against revealing sensitive information.

‎Parts of the petition also alleged that investigators repeatedly questioned him about his relationship with former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, whom he described as the “main target” of the investigation.

‎Calls for Transparent Investigation

‎The allegation has generated strong reactions online, with several public commentators urging authorities to investigate the claims thoroughly.
‎Political commentator Imran Wakili described the allegation as a major opportunity to uncover the truth behind Dadiyata’s disappearance.

‎According to Wakili, the claim should not be dismissed as ordinary political rhetoric, insisting that it requires a transparent and independent probe.

‎Similarly, security analyst and counter-insurgency journalist Bakatsine called on relevant authorities to handle the matter with seriousness.

‎He stated that allegations involving enforced disappearance and possible extrajudicial killings are grave issues that demand accountability and justice if proven true.

‎No Official Response Yet

‎As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the office of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has officially responded to the allegations.

‎The claims made by Kamarawa also remain unverified by independent authorities.

‎However, the renewed public attention surrounding the case is expected to increase pressure on security agencies to provide clarity regarding the fate of Dadiyata, whose disappearance has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about unresolved cases.
