BO-IRS surpasses 2025 revenue target, appears before Borno Assembly on 2026 budget

‎The Borno State Internal Revenue Service (BO-IRS) says it has exceeded its 2025 revenue target, recording a significant boost in the state’s internally generated revenue.

‎The Executive Chairman of BO-IRS, Prof. Bello Alaji Ibrahim, disclosed this on Monday while leading the management team of the service to defend its 2026 budget proposal before the Borno State House of Assembly Committee on Finance.

‎The committee is chaired by Hon. Ibrahim Inuwa Kubo.

‎Presenting a performance review for the 2025 fiscal year, Ibrahim said the service surpassed its projected revenue target of ₦25.01 billion by generating an additional ₦7 billion.

‎According to him, total revenue inflow for the period under review stood at ₦32.33 billion.

‎He attributed the achievement to strategic reforms, improved tax compliance and the commitment of staff of the service.

‎The BO-IRS boss commended Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum for his support and policy direction, noting that the governor’s commitment to strengthening revenue institutions had created an enabling environment for improved performance.

‎Ibrahim assured the committee that the service would sustain the momentum and intensify efforts to enhance revenue generation in line with the state’s development priorities.

‎In their remarks, members of the House Committee on Finance commended the management of BO-IRS for what they described as an impressive performance, transparency and accountability.

‎The committee urged the service to consolidate the gains recorded and work diligently towards achieving its 2026 revenue projections.

‎The budget defence session reaffirmed the commitment of BO-IRS to supporting the Borno State Government’s economic and development agenda through efficient and sustainable revenue mobilisation.
