Armed Forces Remembrance: We’ll Not Forget Your Contributions, Gov. Idris Assures Ex-Servicemen

‎Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi has assured ex-servicemen that their contributions to nation building and the defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty will not be forgotten by present and future leaders.
‎Idris gave the assurance on Thursday at the launch of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem held in Birnin Kebbi.

‎The governor said fallen heroes and veterans paid great sacrifices to keep Nigeria safe, united and peaceful, stressing that their efforts deserved lasting recognition and support.

‎“We are all beneficiaries of the fallen heroes for the good work they did while in active service to keep Nigeria safe and united,” he said.

‎According to him, the present administration remains committed to the welfare of veterans and their families, noting that remembrance activities should go beyond ceremonies to practical support.

‎Idris launched the emblem with a donation of N50 million on behalf of the Kebbi State Government and added a personal donation of N10 million.

‎He also warned individuals and organisations who made pledges during the event to redeem them within one week, urging stakeholders to see the support of the Nigerian Legion as a collective responsibility.

‎Earlier, officials of the Nigerian Legion in the state commended the governor for his consistent support and appealed for continued assistance to improve the welfare of veterans.

‎The event was attended by top government officials, security agencies, traditional rulers and members of the Nigerian Legion, many of whom also pledged donations in support of the cause.
