PTDF Announces 2026 Fully Funded Overseas Postgraduate Scholarships

‎The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has opened applications for its 2026 Overseas Scholarship Scheme, providing fully funded opportunities for Nigerian students to pursue Master’s and Doctoral (PhD) programmes in selected universities in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Malaysia.

‎The scholarship scheme, one of the Federal Government’s flagship human capital development initiatives, is aimed at strengthening local expertise in Nigeria’s oil, gas and broader energy sectors through advanced education and international exposure.

‎PTDF disclosed that beneficiaries of the award will receive comprehensive support, including full tuition fees, monthly living allowances, accommodation, health insurance and return airfare, making it one of the most extensive scholarship packages available to Nigerian students.

‎According to the Fund, the programme is targeted at high-achieving Nigerians whose proposed courses of study align with national priorities in petroleum, gas, renewable energy, engineering, environmental management and other strategic disciplines essential to economic development and energy transition.

‎The Fund encouraged qualified candidates to apply promptly, stressing that the application deadline is February 27, 2026.

‎Industry observers note that the overseas scholarship scheme continues to play a critical role in closing skills gaps within Nigeria’s energy sector, particularly as the country navigates the transition from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources. Alumni of the programme have, over the years, made notable contributions to research, policymaking and technological advancement in the industry.

‎Prospective applicants are advised to carefully review the eligibility requirements and complete their applications through the official PTDF scholarship portal.
