Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to supporters to halt internal criticisms and attacks directed at Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and himself, warning that such actions weaken opposition unity and threaten Nigeria’s democratic advancement.
In a statement shared on his X handle, Atiku noted that individuals who insult either him or Obi do not have the genuine interests of the leaders, the African Democratic Congress (ADC)–led coalition, or the nation at heart.
He cautioned that internal conflicts only play into the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of exploiting divisions within the opposition to retain power.
“The only people who benefit from this internal conflict are the APC urban bandits determined to preserve the satanic status quo,” Atiku stated.
Emphasising the importance of cohesion, he called on opposition figures and their supporters to close ranks, stressing that unity remains essential for effective political engagement in the future.
