Nigeria–US Security Partnership Yielding Real Battlefield Successes — Ribadu

‎Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has said the country’s military and security collaboration with the United States is delivering measurable operational successes.

‎Ribadu made the assertion on Thursday in Abuja during the inauguration of the US–Nigeria Joint Working Group, noting that the partnership has moved beyond discussions to concrete action.

‎He expressed Nigeria’s deep appreciation for the strength, quality and impact of the long-standing military and security cooperation with the United States, stressing that engagements since November 2025 have produced tangible results on the ground.

‎According to him, key gains include improved intelligence sharing, stronger coordination between the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) and Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters, as well as sustained engagement across Nigeria’s security institutions.

‎Ribadu said the collaboration has significantly enhanced Nigeria’s counter-terrorism capabilities and situational awareness across multiple theatres of operation, leading to better target identification and more precise military operations.

‎He added that joint planning efforts have become more effective, enabling security forces to disrupt terrorist networks and transnational criminal groups. These actions, he said, have led to the neutralisation of several terrorists, the destruction of logistics bases, and the arrest or interception of critical facilitators and logisticians.

‎The NSA also commended the United States for its commitment to the timely delivery of military equipment, including drones, helicopters, platforms, spare parts and other support systems procured by Nigeria over the past five years.

‎He noted that the cooperation has been carried out with full respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty, within agreed frameworks, and with a strong focus on joint operations, accountability and the protection of civilians.
