Onanuga Explains Tinubu’s Brief Stumble During Turkey Visit

‎Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, has clarified the reason President Bola Tinubu briefly lost his balance during an official engagement in Turkey, saying the incident occurred after the president stepped on a metal object.

‎Onanuga made the explanation on Tuesday in response to enquiries about the president’s condition in Ankara, Turkey’s capital.

‎The incident happened as President Tinubu walked alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shortly after inspecting a ceremonial parade organised in his honour.

‎A video of the moment circulating online showed the president momentarily going down after a cameraman moved a tripod stand close to his path.

‎However, Onanuga dismissed concerns, stressing that the episode was insignificant. According to him, the president merely stepped on a metal object on the floor, which caused a brief loss of balance.

‎“The president stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” Onanuga said. “It is not a big deal, except for those trying to make mischief out of a fleeting incident. It was just a stumble, thank God, not a fall.”
