The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for loan applications for the 2025/2026 academic session from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Fund said the extension was to allow prospective applicants more time to complete and submit their applications, ensuring that no eligible student is left out due to time limitations.
The statement quoted the Managing Director of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, as noting that the decision underscores the Fund’s commitment to inclusivity and equal access to educational financing.
According to him, the extension would enable applicants who need additional time to finalize their submissions to do so, thereby giving every qualified Nigerian student a fair chance to benefit from the scheme.
NELFUND urged all prospective applicants who are yet to apply or complete their loan applications to take advantage of the extended deadline and ensure that all required information is submitted on or before February 27, 2026.
