Naira Gains at Black Market, Slips Slightly at Official Window

‎The naira strengthened in the parallel market on Friday, appreciating to ₦1,470 per dollar from ₦1,480 recorded on Thursday.

‎However, the local currency weakened at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), where it depreciated to ₦1,391 per dollar.

‎Figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the indicative exchange rate rose to ₦1,391 per dollar, compared with ₦1,385 the previous day, indicating a ₦6 depreciation at the official market.

‎As a result, the gap between the parallel market rate and the official exchange rate narrowed to ₦79 per dollar, down from ₦95 per dollar on Thursday.
