FAAC shares N1.969tn December revenue among FG, states, LGs

‎The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a total sum of N1.969 trillion as the December 2025 Federation Account Revenue among the Federal Government, states and local government councils.

‎This is contained in a statement issued by the Director of Press, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Bawa Mokwa, after the January 2026 FAAC meeting held in Abuja.

‎According to the statement, the total distributable revenue comprised N1.084 trillion as statutory revenue, N846.507 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) and N38.110 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).

‎The committee noted that the distributable revenue increased slightly compared with the N1.928 trillion shared for November 2025.
‎
‎FAAC disclosed that a total gross revenue of N2.585 trillion was available in December 2025. From this amount, N104.697 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N511.585 billion was allocated for transfers, refunds and savings.

‎The communiqué indicated that gross statutory revenue for December 2025 stood at N1.631 trillion, representing a decrease of N105.202 billion from the N1.736 trillion recorded in November 2025.

‎In contrast, gross VAT revenue rose significantly to N913.957 billion in December 2025, compared with N563.042 billion recorded in the preceding month, showing an increase of N350.915 billion.

‎From the total distributable revenue of N1.969 trillion, the Federal Government received N653.500 billion, state governments received N706.469 billion, while local government councils received N513.272 billion.
‎
‎In addition, N96.083 billion, representing 13 per cent of mineral revenue, was shared among the benefiting states as derivation revenue.

‎A breakdown of the statutory revenue allocation showed that from the N1.084 trillion distributable amount, the Federal Government received N520.807 billion, state governments received N264.160 billion, and local government councils received N203.656 billion, while N96.083 billion was paid as derivation revenue.

‎From the N846.507 billion distributable VAT revenue, the Federal Government received N126.976 billion, state governments received N423.254 billion, and local government councils received N296.277 billion.
‎
‎Similarly, from the N38.110 billion EMTL revenue, the Federal Government received N5.717 billion, state governments received N19.055 billion, while local government councils received N13.338 billion.
‎
‎The communiqué further revealed that in December 2025, Companies Income Tax (CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties (STD), Import Duty and VAT recorded significant increases, while Oil and Gas Royalty, CET levies and fees increased marginally.
‎
‎However, Excise Duty, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT)/Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) and Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) witnessed considerable declines during the period.
