The North East Development Commission (NEDC), in partnership with the Nigeria Arabic Language Village (NALV), has concluded a Train-the-Trainers programme for Tsangaya and Arabic teachers in Yobe State, with the closing ceremony held on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu.
The programme forms part of NEDC’s strategic human capital and community stabilisation interventions, aimed at strengthening teaching capacity, promoting self-reliance, and improving socio-economic resilience at the grassroots level.
Participants were trained in Arabic pedagogy, calligraphy, and practical vocational skills to enhance both instructional quality and livelihood sustainability.
The Yobe intervention follows a similar programme earlier conducted in Maiduguri, reflecting the Commission’s deliberate approach to scaling impactful initiatives.
The NEDC has indicated that the programme will be extended across other North-East states as part of its regional stabilisation and development framework.
Stakeholders commended the Commission for prioritising education and empowerment as tools for building social cohesion and long-term stability in the North East.
