‎Army Chief Reaffirms Resolve to Defeat Terrorism, Prioritises Troops’ Welfare

‎The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s determination to decisively combat terrorism, insurgency, and other security challenges confronting the nation.

‎Shaibu made the declaration during the 75th Army Headquarters Departments and Commands West African Social Activities (WASA), held in Abuja to mark the conclusion of the 2025 training year.

‎He described the Nigerian Army as a professional, adaptable, and combat-ready force dedicated to protecting Nigeria’s peace, stability, and strategic interests.

‎The COAS acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by personnel deployed across various operational theatres nationwide, commending their steadfast commitment in tackling terrorism and other internal security threats.

‎“Peace and security are essential for sustainable development in our country. We will continue to act decisively wherever our nation calls. We shall crush the terrorists,” he stated.

‎Shaibu stressed that operational effectiveness must be complemented by strong welfare policies, noting that deliberate measures have been put in place to keep troops motivated and ensure adequate support for their families.

‎“A motivated soldier is a force multiplier. That is why the Soldier-First Culture under my Command Philosophy remains central to every initiative we pursue,” he said.

‎He also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his continued support, reaffirmed the Army’s loyalty to the Constitution, and commended the Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, and other Service Chiefs for their collaboration and leadership.

‎According to the COAS, events such as WASA not only celebrate achievements but also strengthen unity among officers, soldiers, and their families, inspiring them to serve with renewed dedication and professionalism.
