The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its e-membership registration exercise in Borno State as part of efforts to digitalise its membership database and strengthen internal democracy.
The exercise was formally flagged off on Saturday in Maiduguri by Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum, who completed his registration on the digital platform at the APC State Secretariat.
Also registered at the event were the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Usman Umar Kadufur, and the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Rt. Hon. (Dr) Ali Bukar Dalori.
Speaking at the inauguration, Zulum described the e-registration initiative as a critical step toward building a credible, transparent and sustainable party system.
He said that strong internal democracy remained the foundation for effective and stable governance.
The governor commended the APC National Chairman and the National Working Committee for introducing the digital registration platform, as well as the party’s state leadership for ensuring a smooth take-off of the exercise in Borno.
Zulum urged party members across the 27 local government areas of the state to embrace the digital platform, stressing that accurate data, proper organisation and inclusiveness were vital to the growth and credibility of the party.
“Let us expand our membership base. If other states can aspire to register millions of members, Borno State can, by the grace of God, register even more,” he said.
He further directed senators, members of the House of Representatives, members of the State House of Assembly, commissioners, advisers, local government chairmen and party leaders to return to their constituencies and mobilise residents for mass registration.
Zulum also instructed party chairmen to increase the number of trained registration agents and ensure adequate deployment of digital devices to guarantee seamless registration across communities.
Earlier in his address, the APC State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Bello Ayuba, thanked the governor for his consistent support to the party, including the approval of funds to facilitate the conduct of the exercise across all local government areas.
Ayuba commended the governor’s developmental achievements in the state, noting that they had continued to attract national and international recognition.
He also praised the APC national leadership for introducing the digital registration platform, describing it as a bold move to enhance efficiency, transparency and data accuracy within the party.
The state chairman disclosed that Borno successfully hosted the North-East Train-the-Trainers Programme on e-registration in November 2025, during which coordinators and supervisors from the six states of the zone were trained ahead of the full rollout.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator of APC e-registration, Hon. Auwal Hamza, said the platform was a landmark innovation that had positioned the APC as Nigeria’s leading technology-driven political party.
According to him, the system provides secure digital membership profiling, identity verification, analytics and reporting, payment integration and automated workflow processes aimed at improving efficiency and accountability.
Hamza urged trained registration agents to see their assignment as a historic contribution to the modernisation of Nigeria’s political processes.
The event attracted party leaders, government officials and stakeholders from across the state.
