BREAKING: Ramadan 1447AH Crescent Sighted in Saudia, Fasting Begins Wednesday

‎The crescent marking the beginning of Ramadan 1447AH has been SIghted in Saudia, signaling the commencement of the holy month of fasting for Muslims.

‎Following the sighting, Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, has been declared as the first day of Ramadan 1447AH.

‎Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a period of fasting, prayer, reflection and charity. During the month, faithful abstain from food, drink and other physical needs from dawn to sunset.

‎Religious leaders have urged Muslims to dedicate the holy month to increased devotion, acts of kindness and prayers for peace, unity and national development.
‎They also encouraged the faithful to support the less privileged and promote harmonious coexistence throughout the period.

‎Ramadan is expected to last 29 or 30 days, subject to the sighting of the next crescent.

‎Muslims across the country have begun preparations for the month-long spiritual exercise.
