The Legislative Arm of the Bomadi Local Government Council in Delta has initiated impeachment proceedings against the council’s Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Andaye, over alleged gross misconduct.
The councillors have formally submitted a notice of impeachment to the Delta State House of Assembly (DSHA), recommending Andaye’s removal from office.
The impeachment notice, dated Jan. 5, 2026, and addressed to the Speaker of the House, was transmitted to the Assembly on Wednesday and is expected to be considered when plenary resumes, in line with the provisions of the Delta State Local Government Law.
Photocopies of the notice made available to newsmen indicate that 15 out of the 20 elected councillors endorsed the resolution, thereby meeting the constitutional requirement of a two-thirds majority.
The councillors accused the chairman of gross misconduct, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.
They further alleged that Andaye engaged in what they described as “reckless and unconstitutional expenditure of public funds,” actions which they said amounted to a violation of his oath of office and the extant local government law in the state.
The impeachment notice was also copied to the embattled chairman and the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Efforts to obtain comments from the chairman were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
