A bill sponsored by Rt. Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, representing Maiduguri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for the establishment of a Footwear Entrepreneurship Development Centre in Maiduguri, Borno State, has begun yielding tangible results.
The initiative, aimed at equipping youths with practical skills in footwear design, production and marketing, is intended to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship among young people in the state.
Findings indicates that construction of the centre, which commenced from scratch, is nearing completion. The facility is being equipped with modern infrastructure designed to function as a comprehensive training and production hub for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The centre is expected to provide beneficiaries with hands-on skills required to establish sustainable footwear businesses, thereby creating viable sources of income and reducing dependence on white-collar jobs.
The project aligns with the strategic vision of the Borno State Government under Gov. Babagana Zulum, which prioritises poverty eradication, youth empowerment and the promotion of self-employment through skills acquisition.
Stakeholders say the initiative is expected to contribute to reduced unemployment, stimulate small-scale industrial growth and enhance overall economic development in the state.
Constituents have commended Rahis for his foresight and commitment to community development, describing the project as a practical intervention with long-term socio-economic benefits for Borno residents.
The lawmaker has reiterated his resolve to continue supporting initiatives that improve livelihoods and promote sustainable development across his constituency.
