N2.45tn Released to States, FCT to Boost Infrastructure, Security — FG

‎The Federal Government has released a cumulative ₦2.45 trillion to the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support infrastructure development and enhance security across the country.

‎The disclosure was made on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Mr Daniel Bwala, via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @BwalaDaniel.

‎Bwala said the funds were disbursed between March 2024 and August 2025 to enable states and the FCT to undertake critical projects, including road and bridge rehabilitation, upgrades of schools and healthcare facilities, as well as the strengthening of security operations at the community level.

‎According to him, the intervention is already producing visible results, as it targets areas where Nigerians most urgently expect improvements.

‎He noted that the federal support reflects global best practices, citing countries such as the United States, where federal funding routinely complements state and local government efforts in infrastructure, education, health and public safety. He added that India and other advanced economies also rely on central government grants to help subnational governments deliver essential services.

‎Bwala explained that the disbursements align with the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly the 2025 Budget of Restoration, which focuses on securing peace, rebuilding prosperity and strengthening national development.

‎He said the budget prioritises key sectors such as security, infrastructure, health and education, with strong emphasis on transparency, accelerated delivery of energy, transport and public works, job creation and improved living standards.

‎Bwala stressed that sustained collaboration between the Federal Government and the states, alongside transparent utilisation of funds, remains crucial to achieving faster development outcomes and building a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.
