
The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has inspected the ongoing construction of Government Secondary School (GSS), Bauchi, as part of efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure in the region.
The inspection team was led by the Minister of State for Regional Development Hon Uba Mai gari and included the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NEDC, Mohammad Goni Alkali, other members of the commission’s management, as well as the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on NEDC, Rt. Hon. Usman Zannah.
The team assessed the level of work and progress on the project during a visit to the site.
The project comprises the construction of classrooms, hostels, staff quarters, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre, library, laboratory, dining hall, perimeter fencing, as well as an upgraded water supply system.
Speaking during the inspection, the minister said the intervention was aimed at improving access to quality education and providing a conducive learning environment for students.
He noted that upon completion, the project would significantly enhance teaching and learning, improve student accommodation, and provide modern educational facilities for both students and staff.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment, through the NEDC, to supporting education as a key pillar for sustainable development, peace and stability in the North-East.
In his remarks, Alkali said the commission remained committed to the timely delivery of quality projects that would have lasting impact on communities across the region.
Officials of the commission assured that the project would be executed in line with required standards and within the stipulated timeline.
The intervention is expected to boost academic development in Bauchi State and contribute to broader educational advancement across the North-East region.
