The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has concluded its round of state project inspection and commissioning visits with a grand finale in Taraba State, reinforcing its commitment to fast-tracking development across the North-East region.
The high-level delegation was led by the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari, alongside the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NEDC, Alhaji Mohammad Goni Alkali, the Board Chairman of the Commission, Major General Paul Tarfa (Rtd), and other Executive Directors.
The primary objective of the visit was the formal handover of numerous completed projects executed by the Commission to the Taraba State Government. These projects cut across vital sectors such as healthcare, education, road and bridge construction, as well as human capital development, all aimed at improving livelihoods and driving sustainable growth in the state.
Key interventions delivered include modern healthcare facilities to expand access to quality medical services, improved educational infrastructure to enhance learning, newly constructed and rehabilitated roads and bridges to strengthen connectivity and economic activities, and empowerment programmes designed to build capacity and support human capital development.
The interventions are specifically designed to improve maternal and child healthcare services, ensure reliable access to clean water, and enhance hospital safety through sustainable solar-powered solutions. Beneficiaries include pregnant women, nursing mothers, newborns, healthcare personnel, and residents of Zing Local Government Area and neighbouring communities who depend on the General Hospital for essential medical services.
Significantly, the visit took place in the home state of the Honourable Minister, Hon. Uba Maigari, lending additional meaning to the occasion. The team received widespread commendation from government representatives and members of the public for the transformative and impactful projects implemented across the state.
