The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (‎NiMet) has forecast a three-day period of haze and sunshine across the country from Wednesday to Friday.

NiMet made this known in its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja.
‎According to the agency, sunny and hazy skies are expected to prevail over the northern region throughout the forecast period.

‎It also predicted generally sunny skies over the southern region with patches of clouds, with chances of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states later in the day on Wednesday.

‎For Thursday, the agency said sunny and hazy skies are anticipated over the northern and central regions, while sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected over the southern region.

‎It added that there are prospects of thunderstorms with light rainfall over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states during the morning hours.

‎According to NiMet, thunderstorms are also expected later in the day over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states.
‎The agency further stated that on Friday, sunny and hazy skies are expected over the northern region during the morning hours, with dust haze anticipated in the afternoon and evening.

‎It predicted sunny and hazy conditions over the central region throughout the forecast period.

‎NiMet also forecast cloudy skies over the southern region with sunny intervals in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.

‎The agency warned that dust particles are in suspension over the North-Central region and advised the public to take necessary precautions.
‎It also urged people with asthma and other respiratory conditions to be cautious due to the prevailing weather conditions.

‎NiMet further advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from the agency to ensure effective planning of their operations.
