The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, will be reopened on Monday.
Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s acting National Secretary, disclosed this after the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) quarterly consultative meeting with leaders of political parties in Abuja on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigeria Police Force sealed the PDP national secretariat on November 19, 2025, following a clash between the Tanimu Turaki–led National Working Committee (NWC) and the faction headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed, acting National Chairman.
Explaining the delay in taking possession of the secretariat, Anyanwu said the police sealed the premises after the clash and that efforts by the opposing group to secure a court order to reopen it were unsuccessful.
“We wrote to the police. The police sealed the place, and the other group went to court to ask that it be reopened. The case was dismissed because they lacked locus standi. By Monday, we will take over the office,” he said.
Anyanwu maintained that there was no faction within the PDP, insisting that the party remained under the leadership of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) led by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, which he said justified their participation in the INEC meeting.
According to him, recent court decisions had resolved the party’s leadership crisis, noting that a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan ruled that the PDP convention held on November 15 and 16, 2025, was null and void.
“No individual should parade himself or herself as a member of the NWC of the PDP. The body with the full authority to administer and speak for the party is the National Caretaker Committee, led by Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed,” Anyanwu stated.
He said party members were relieved that stability had returned and assured Nigerians that the PDP would field candidates in all forthcoming elections.
“For those who were worried that PDP would not present candidates, that concern has been laid to rest. Normalcy has returned to the party,” he said.
