‎Suspected terrorists have launched coordinated attacks in parts of Kwara, Katsina and Kaduna states, abducting several persons and heightening security concerns across the affected communities.

‎In Kwara, no fewer than seven persons were abducted in Adanla community, Ifelodun Local Government Area, following a failed attempt to kidnap the traditional ruler of the community, Oba David Oyerinola, and his wife.

‎The spokesperson of Adanla community, Prince Oyerinola Olakunle, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday, said the victims were members of the same family.

‎He listed them as Sikiru Oyerinola, Taye Oyerinola, Idowu Oyerinola, Faruk Oyerinola and two minors, adding that the abductors were demanding a ransom of N300 million for their release.
‎According to him, the attack occurred when about six armed terrorists stormed the palace, shouting and demanding to know the whereabouts of the monarch and his wife.

‎“The monarch and his wife managed to escape, but the attackers, in anger, abducted seven members of the community,” Olakunle said.

‎He added that Adanla community in Igbaja Ward II had been largely deserted since the incident, as residents fled for fear of further attacks.

‎Oba Oyerinola and his wife were said to have relocated to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, where they are currently staying in a hotel for security reasons.

‎Sources said that members of the monarch’s family were still under threat, adding that the suspects allegedly trailed the monarch and his wife to Ilorin.
‎Meanwhile, similar attacks were reported in parts of Katsina State, where several residents of different communities were abducted by armed bandits.

‎In Niger State, a potential tragedy was averted when villagers discovered three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at Ganaru community in Zungeru District of Mashegu Local Government Area.
‎The discovery came barely days after over 40 persons were reportedly killed by terrorists in the state.

‎Residents who spoke said the IEDs were promptly reported to security agencies, who later moved in to secure the area.
‎Efforts to get official reactions from the police and other security agencies on the incidents were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
