
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), ahead of his participation in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which begins on Monday.
The office of the President reports that the presidential aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at exactly 11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday.
President Tinubu was received on arrival by the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan; the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; and members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.
NAN further reports that several senior government officials, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassa Muhammed Muhammed, were also on hand to welcome the President at his hotel.
The President arrived Abu Dhabi from Europe, where he spent part of his end-of-year break and held engagements with the President of Rwanda, Mr Paul Kagame, and the President of France, Mr Emmanuel Macron.
The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” is a global platform that brings together world leaders, policymakers, investors and experts to advance dialogue and action on sustainable development, climate action, energy transition and inclusive economic growth.
President Tinubu’s visit is expected to further strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, while reinforcing Nigeria’s role in global discussions on sustainable development.
