Osun 2026: ADC Confident of Victory as Najeem Salaam Intensifies Grassroots Campaign

‎The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, Najeem Salaam, has expressed strong confidence in the party’s chances of winning the August 15 poll, citing increasing public support and growing grassroots mobilisation across the state.

‎Salaam made the declaration during a general stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Ejigbo Local Government Area on Saturday, where party leaders, supporters and members gathered to strategise ahead of the crucial election.

‎Speaking to party faithful, Salaam stated that the ADC has continued to gain acceptance among residents who are seeking credible leadership and improved governance in Osun State.

‎According to him, the momentum currently enjoyed by the party reflects the desire of the people for a fresh political direction focused on development, accountability and inclusiveness.

‎“Our party enjoys widespread acceptance among the people, and with the level of support we are receiving, we are confident of emerging victorious,” Salaam said.

‎The ADC governorship candidate urged members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s vision, stressing that sustained grassroots engagement would play a vital role in securing victory at the polls.

‎He noted that the party’s campaign strategy would continue to focus on issue-based politics, peaceful engagement and direct interaction with communities across the state.

‎“We must stay focused and continue to work together to achieve our collective goal of providing purposeful leadership,” he added.

‎Salaam further pledged to deliver responsible and people-oriented governance if elected governor of Osun State. He assured residents that his administration would prioritise infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic growth and inclusive governance.

‎The former Speaker also described the ADC as a credible political alternative capable of restoring public confidence in governance and delivering effective leadership in the state.

‎“This is a structured platform built on progressive ideals, and we are determined to promote issue-based campaigns devoid of rancour,” he stated.

‎Salaam appeared at the meeting alongside his running mate, Temitope Agiri, as party leaders reiterated their determination to strengthen mobilisation efforts ahead of the governorship election.

‎The Ejigbo Local Government Chairman of the ADC, Ganiyu Abeni, said the party’s structure in the area remained strong and fully prepared for the election.

‎“Our members are united, and we are fully prepared to ensure victory for our candidate,” Abeni stated.

‎Similarly, the Osun State Chairman of the ADC, Isa Adesiji, described Salaam as a competent and credible candidate whose emergence was based on merit, leadership capacity and integrity.

‎Adesiji urged voters across Osun State to support the ADC in the forthcoming governorship election, insisting that the state requires a new leadership direction capable of addressing the aspirations of the people.

‎“His emergence is based on competence, character and humility, and we believe he can lead the state effectively,” he said.

‎Party leaders at the meeting also disclosed that mobilisation efforts had been intensified in several local government areas as the ADC seeks to expand its political influence ahead of the Osun governorship election.

‎Political observers believe the 2026 Osun governorship race could witness increased competition among major political parties as campaigns continue to gather momentum across the state.
