The leadership of Dr Mohammed G Alkali Managing Director and Chief Executive of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian intervention by distributing relief materials to victims of the recent communal crisis in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The intervention is aimed at alleviating the suffering of displaced and vulnerable families while promoting recovery, peace, and social stability in the affected communities.
The distribution of the relief materials underscores the Commission’s continued efforts to provide emergency assistance to communities affected by conflicts and disasters across Nigeria’s North East region.
NEDC Delivers Essential Relief Materials to Crisis Victims
The relief materials were presented through the Member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. La’ori, who officially handed them over to the Executive Chairman of Lamurde Local Government Area, Hon. Bulus Daniel, for onward distribution to the affected beneficiaries.
The humanitarian package included:
250 bags of 25kg rice
250 cartons of spaghetti
250 five-litre containers of vegetable oil
600 mats
600 blankets
These essential items are expected to provide immediate support to families who suffered losses during the communal unrest, helping them meet basic needs while rebuilding their lives.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the NEDC, Barrister Khalifa Lawal, represented by Musa Usman Hyeladi, reiterated the Commission’s dedication to delivering timely humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities.
He emphasized that the intervention reflects the NEDC’s mandate of responding swiftly to emergencies and supporting communities affected by conflict and other humanitarian challenges.
