Ndume urges Borno residents to expose terrorists’ informants

‎Sen. Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has charged residents of Gwoza Local Government Area to expose terrorists’ collaborators and informants in their communities to enhance security.

‎Ndume gave the charge on Tuesday at the palace of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, during a meeting with the monarch, youths and other stakeholders.

‎He warned that the activities of informants aiding insurgents would no longer be tolerated, urging communities to remain vigilant and united against insecurity.

‎“We will not tolerate anyone serving as an informant. Anyone found wanting will be dealt with decisively. You cannot live among your people and betray them,” he said.

‎The senator commended the Nigerian military, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), local vigilantes and residents of Gwoza for their resilience and commitment to defending their communities.

‎Ndume said his visit was also aimed at consolidating political strength, enhancing communal security and mobilising residents for the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration and the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise.

‎“I am here to mobilise, encourage and advocate for this registration. The turnout is encouraging, and by the grace of God, Gwoza will produce the highest number of voters in Borno State,” he said.

‎The lawmaker later proceeded to Bulabulin/Gwoza-Wakani Ward, where he obtained his APC digital membership card.

‎Ndume also raised concern over rising drug abuse and other social vices among youths, saying he had liaised with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to identify and flush out drug peddlers in the area.

‎He disclosed ongoing engagements with women groups to address emerging social challenges and urged youths to enrol in institutions such as the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, and the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

‎He pledged to personally support the registration of underprivileged students to ensure access to education regardless of financial status.

‎In his remarks, the Emir of Gwoza expressed concern over drug abuse among youths, noting that meaningful development could not thrive in a community plagued by drugs.
‎He called on parents, traditional rulers and youths to work collectively to eradicate the menace.

‎Earlier, the Director-General of the National Women Development Centre, Dr Bashir, urged youths to shun crime and embrace productive ventures, saying leaders in Gwoza were united in attracting sustainable development to the area.

‎He also called on APC members in the local government to obtain the party’s digital membership cards and PVCs to strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
