The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has deployed 30 electric shuttle buses and cabs to ease passenger movement between the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and the city’s Central Area.
FAAN disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
According to the authority, the deployment is part of ongoing efforts to improve passenger experience, enhance intermodal connectivity and promote environmentally friendly transportation within the aviation ecosystem.
It said the electric vehicles would provide safe, reliable and affordable transport services for air travellers, airport workers and other users commuting between the airport and the Central Business District.
FAAN added that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s policy on clean energy transition and reduction of carbon emissions in public transport.
“The introduction of electric shuttle buses and cabs is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, lowering operational costs and minimising environmental impact,” the authority said.
It assured passengers of regular maintenance of the vehicles and urged users to make proper use of the service.
FAAN reiterated its commitment to modernising airport operations and improving service delivery across Nigeria’s airports.
