Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has officially married his long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez, bringing to an end years of speculation about when the couple would formalise their relationship.
The 41-year-old footballer announced the marriage on Tuesday through his Instagram account, sharing a photograph of the couple’s hands displaying their wedding rings.
Ronaldo accompanied the picture with a short but symbolic caption: “C (heart) G.”
Reports indicate that the wedding ceremony was held in Cascais, a coastal resort town near Lisbon, Portugal, with the couple’s five children among those present for the celebration.
Ronaldo and Georgina’s relationship
Ronaldo and Rodriguez have been together since 2016, when their relationship first became public.
Over the years, the couple have built a family together while maintaining a high-profile presence in international entertainment and sports circles. Rodriguez has frequently appeared alongside Ronaldo at major events, while the footballer has also spoken publicly about the importance of his family.
Their engagement attracted considerable attention after Ronaldo presented Rodriguez with an oval-shaped diamond ring reportedly weighing about 35 carats.
In November 2025, Ronaldo confirmed that the couple planned to marry after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At the time, the Portugal captain also expressed his hope that he would be able to celebrate the wedding with the World Cup trophy after helping his country win the tournament.
That dream, however, did not materialise.
Portugal were eliminated by Spain in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, ending Ronaldo’s hopes of lifting the prestigious trophy with the national team.
A new chapter for the football icon
The wedding marks another significant milestone in the personal life of one of football’s most recognisable figures.
Ronaldo has enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning more than two decades, winning numerous domestic and international honours and establishing himself as one of the most decorated players in the history of the sport.
The Portuguese forward has won the Ballon d’Or five times and has represented some of the biggest clubs in European football.
Away from the pitch, his relationship with Rodriguez has remained a major subject of public interest, with the couple frequently sharing glimpses of their family life with millions of followers around the world.
The wedding in Portugal now marks a new chapter for Ronaldo and Rodriguez after nearly a decade together.
For the football superstar, the occasion comes at a significant moment in his career and personal life, as he continues to balance his football commitments with his role as a father and family man.
The couple’s decision to keep details of the ceremony relatively private has also ensured that the focus remains on the significance of the occasion rather than the finer details of the celebration.
