Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State, has said he would serve only one term under the New Nigeria Peoples Party before completing a second term under the All Progressives Congress.
Yusuf made the remark while addressing a group in a viral video, in response to the Hausa slogan “Falle Daya” (One Term), which has been used by political opponents against him.
“Actually, it is only one term in the NNPP party. We will do the second term in the APC,” the governor said.
He also dismissed the prospects of the African Democratic Congress, stating that the party would not secure electoral victory.
The governor’s comments come amid recent political developments following his defection from the NNPP to the APC, citing the need to act in the best interest of the people of the state.
Yusuf had earlier announced his resignation from the NNPP, attributing his decision to deepening internal crises and prolonged leadership disputes within the party.
The development is linked to his strained relationship with his former political ally, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, which has reshaped the political landscape in the state.
Political observers say the governor’s latest remarks may further influence alignments ahead of future electoral cycles in Kano.
