Kebbi Military Operation: Troops Kill Two Terrorists as Search Intensifies for Missing Soldier

‎‎Troops Neutralise Two Terrorists During Kebbi Security Operation

‎Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Tudun Bichi have neutralised two suspected terrorists during a military operation in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, in another effort to curb terrorist activities across Nigeria’s North-West region.

‎The operation, conducted on Sunday, July 13, was based on credible intelligence indicating the presence of armed terrorists operating around Mokurata Village, a community that has experienced security threats in recent months.

‎According to security sources, troops swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the intelligence and engaged the suspected terrorists in a fierce gun battle.

‎The encounter resulted in the death of two suspected terrorists, while others reportedly escaped with varying degrees of injuries.

‎Security Forces Recover Communication Equipment
‎Following the successful operation, security personnel recovered items believed to have been used by the fleeing terrorists.
‎Recovered exhibits include:
‎One motorcycle suspected to have been used for mobility.

‎One Baofeng handheld radio believed to have served as a communication device during terrorist operations.

‎Security analysts say the recovery of communication equipment could provide valuable intelligence to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations and help security agencies identify additional members of the criminal network.

‎Soldier Missing After Fierce Gun Battle

‎Despite the operational success, the military confirmed that one soldier remains missing in action following the exchange of gunfire.

‎The missing soldier was reportedly armed with a PKT machine gun and an AK-47 rifle at the time contact was made with the terrorists.

‎Military sources disclosed that search-and-rescue efforts are underway, with additional troops deployed to comb surrounding forests and possible escape routes in a bid to locate the missing personnel and prevent the fleeing suspects from regrouping.

‎Military Sustains Pressure on Terrorist Groups

‎Security sources noted that the latest operation forms part of ongoing military offensives designed to dismantle terrorist hideouts and deny criminal groups freedom of movement across Nigeria’s North-West.

‎The Nigerian military has continued to intensify intelligence-led operations, raids and clearance missions aimed at restoring peace in communities affected by terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes.

‎Security experts believe sustained collaboration between local communities and security agencies remains essential for improving intelligence gathering and ensuring the success of ongoing operations.

‎Renewed Commitment to Regional Security

‎The latest operation underscores the Nigerian military’s continued commitment to combating terrorism and protecting lives and property across the country.

‎Authorities have assured residents that operations will continue until the fleeing suspects are apprehended and the missing soldier is found.

‎Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies to strengthen ongoing efforts to improve safety and stability throughout the region.
