‎‎The Federal Lawmaker representing his constituency, Rt. Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis, has flagged off the construction of critical educational infrastructure at the Shehu Umar Ibn Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi Model Islamic School in Shehuri South, Maiduguri.

‎The intervention, which is designed to improve the learning environment and strengthen the school’s capacity to provide quality Islamic education, comprises the construction of two classrooms, an office/staff room, a restroom/convenience, a store/a record-keeping office.

‎The Shehu Umar Ibn Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi Model Islamic School is an Islamic educational institution located in Shehuri South, where students are taught the Holy Qur’an and other relevant Islamic knowledge. The school operates from Monday to Friday, providing both morning and evening classes to accommodate learners and ensure continuity in their Islamic education.

‎The decision to undertake the project followed a comprehensive needs-assessment tour conducted by a team representing Rt. Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis and led by Hon. Abba Alhaji Alinma.

‎During the assessment, the team visited several locations within the constituency to identify areas where targeted interventions could make the greatest impact. The Shehu Umar Ibn Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi Model Islamic School was identified as one of the institutions with an urgent need for improved infrastructure.

‎The construction project is therefore aimed at addressing some of the school’s most pressing infrastructural challenges while creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.

‎Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, stakeholders at the school expressed appreciation to Rt. Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis for what they described as a timely and meaningful intervention.

‎The Shehu commended the Federal Lawmaker for responding to the needs of the institution and for prioritising education and the development of young people in his constituency. He offered prayers for Allah to bless Rt. Hon. Rahis, grant him greater wisdom and strength, and continue to guide him in his service to the people.

‎The intervention further demonstrates Rt. Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis’s continued commitment and determination to improving educational infrastructure and supporting institutions that contribute to the intellectual, moral and spiritual development of constituents.

‎By responding directly to the needs identified through the assessment exercise, the project underscores the importance of constituency representation that is anchored on identifying genuine community needs and translating them into tangible development projects.

‎The construction of the classrooms, staff office, restroom, store and record-keeping office is expected to provide the school with much-needed additional facilities, enhance its operational capacity and create a more suitable environment for students and teachers.

‎The project also represents an investment in the future of the constituency, particularly in the education of young learners receiving Qur’anic and Islamic knowledge, which remains an important component of community development and moral upbringing.
