The Kano State Government has declared Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, a work-free day to commemorate the Takutaha celebration marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The declaration was contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Head of Service and signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Rukayya Uba Sulaiman, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the holiday coincides with 19th Rabi’ul Awwal, 1448 AH, and is intended to enable workers and residents to participate in the celebration and reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet.
The Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, urged civil servants to use the occasion to reflect on and demonstrate the virtues exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
She listed honesty, patience, kindness, justice, peaceful coexistence and service to humanity among the values associated with the Prophet’s teachings.
Maimota also urged workers to maintain professionalism, dedication and good character in the discharge of their official duties.
She said such values were consistent with the principles and expectations of the Kano State Civil Service.
The Head of Service wished residents a peaceful and meaningful Takutaha celebration.
