The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the January 2027 elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima serving as Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively.
The list, released on Saturday, was contained in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as another Vice Chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will serve as Secretary, with APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively.
The campaign council will be supported by an advisory body comprising Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed Deputy Directors-General for the Southern and Northern regions. They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in the respective zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will oversee Administration as Deputy Director-General.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will work with zonal directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori will serve as secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
The Legal Directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies. Other members include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, has been appointed Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication. He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
The Media Directorate will also include Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka as Coordinating Deputy Directors.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as Coordinating Secretaries of the Media Directorate.
Segun Dada has been retained as Director of New Media, a position he held during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary of the New Media Directorate.
The campaign council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
President Tinubu charged members of the council to work diligently towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections. He also urged directors of the various directorates to engage other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.
The President said the administration had fulfilled its campaign promises and placed Nigeria on the path of economic recovery and progress.
He urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements and communicate its vision to Nigerians, saying the APC must work to defeat forces seeking to take the country backwards.
