As part of its commitment to ensuring value for money on completed projects, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) team has inspected the newly renovated Bade Township Stadium in Gashua, Yobe State. The facility has been upgraded into a modern, state-of-the-art sporting arena.
The project forms part of NEDC’s broader effort to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote community development across the North East region. The upgraded stadium will serve as a modern venue for sporting activities, cultural events, and other community engagements, thereby benefiting residents and contributing to the local economy.
NEDC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Goni Alkali, represented by the Commission’s Yobe State Coordinator, Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas, led a team of staff and consultants on the inspection visit. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to delivering quality projects that directly address the needs of communities.
Pillar 9 of the North East Stabilization and Development Master Plan (NESDMP) highlights the importance of developing the region’s hospitality, tourism, arts, culture, sports, and recreational sectors to enhance memorable experiences and foster sustainable growth.
The renovated stadium is expected to boost sports development, encourage youth participation, and strengthen community cohesion in Bade and neighboring areas of Yobe North Senatorial District, as well as across Yobe State.
The Executive Chairman of Bade Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Babagana (Yurema), received the inspection team. During the visit, the team also inspected an NEDC-completed solar-powered borehole project with a 10,000-gallon overhead tank and multiple water points located at the Gashua Motor Park in Bade LGA.
