The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Dr. Muhammad Goni Alkali, yesterday celebrated the wedding ceremony of his beloved daughter in Maiduguri, Borno State, bringing together thousands of dignitaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders, government officials, development partners, friends, and well-wishers from across the North-East and other parts of Nigeria.
The colourful ceremony served not only as a family celebration but also as a remarkable gathering that strengthened the bonds of unity, friendship, and solidarity among the people of the North-East. The event attracted guests from Borno, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe States, and then other states in Nigeria reflecting the respect and admiration Dr. Alkali enjoys across the region and beyond.
Established to coordinate, formulate, and implement programmes and projects for the reconstruction, rehabilitation, resettlement, integration, and sustainable development of the North-East, the North East Development Commission continues to play a pivotal role in restoring hope to communities affected by insurgency and other developmental challenges.
Under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Goni Alkali, the Commission has continued to execute critical infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental, livelihood, and humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of millions of people across the region.
Amid the joyous celebration, Dr. Muhammad Goni Alkali once again demonstrated the humility and compassion for which he is widely known by personally welcoming guests and expressing his heartfelt appreciation for their presence. He also extended generosity to the less privileged through the distribution of welfare packages, reflecting his enduring commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society.
The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and admiration as guests commended Dr. Alkali’s simplicity, accessibility, and generosity. Many offered prayers for Allah to bless the new couple with a peaceful and prosperous marital life, while also praying for Dr. Alkali’s continued good health, wisdom, and success in his national assignment. They further urged public office holders to emulate his people-centred leadership and unwavering commitment to service.
