The Gwoza Emirate has declared its full support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 Borno State governorship election, with traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders endorsing the nomination of Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
The endorsement came on Sunday when the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Mustapha Idrissa Timta, led a high-powered delegation to the Borno State Government House in Maiduguri on a solidarity visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The visit followed the recent emergence of Engineer Mustapha Gubio as the APC governorship candidate and Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi as his running mate for the 2027 general elections.
The development also came barely 24 hours after the Emir of Biu and stakeholders from the Biu Emirate paid a similar visit to Governor Zulum, signaling growing support for the APC ticket across Borno State.
Gwoza Emirate Backs APC Governorship Candidate
Speaking during the visit, Emir Mohammed Shehu Mustapha Idrissa Timta said the people of Gwoza Emirate were united behind the APC governorship and deputy governorship candidates, describing the duo as capable leaders with the experience needed to sustain development across the state.
According to the Emir, the delegation visited Government House to express appreciation for what they described as a wise and inclusive decision by the party leadership.
He noted that Engineer Mustapha Gubio had worked closely with Governor Zulum during his tenure as Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), playing a key role in rebuilding communities devastated by the Boko Haram insurgency.
The monarch specifically highlighted Gwoza as one of the communities that benefited from the reconstruction and resettlement efforts carried out under the Zulum administration.
He also praised Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi, describing him as a hardworking, committed, and competent leader whose nomination reflects confidence in his ability to serve the people of Borno State.
Governor Zulum Appreciates Gwoza Delegation
Responding, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum thanked the Emir, district heads, political leaders, and stakeholders for their overwhelming support.
The governor described the visit as a clear demonstration of unity, loyalty, and confidence in the APC leadership and its candidates.
Governor Zulum said the endorsement by the people of Gwoza further confirmed that Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi enjoys widespread acceptance and credibility among his people.
He urged party members and supporters across the state to remain united and work together for the success of the APC in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the emergence of Engineer Mustapha Gubio and Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi was an act of divine providence.
He reminded supporters that leadership comes only by the will of Almighty Allah and called on everyone to continue praying for peaceful and successful elections.
Zulum Reaffirms Commitment to Resettlement
Beyond politics, Governor Zulum used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to rebuilding communities affected by insurgency.
He announced that the Borno State Government would construct a modern school on the site of the former Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp as part of ongoing recovery and development efforts.
The governor also disclosed that the evacuation and resettlement of internally displaced persons had entered its final phase, assuring residents that government would continue restoring normal life in affected communities.
He reiterated that completing the resettlement of displaced communities remains one of the administration’s top priorities.
APC Leaders Attend Solidarity Meeting
The solidarity meeting attracted several prominent political leaders and government officials, including:
APC Governorship Candidate, Engineer Mustapha Gubio
Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South)
Senator Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan (Borno Central)

Growing Support for APC Ahead of 2027
Political observers believe the back-to-back endorsements from both the Biu Emirate and Gwoza Emirate indicate growing grassroots support for the APC governorship ticket in Borno State.
The endorsements underscore increasing unity among traditional institutions, political stakeholders, and community leaders as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship election.
With influential emirates publicly declaring support for Engineer Mustapha Gubio and Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi, the APC appears to be consolidating its political base while emphasizing continuity, stability, post-insurgency recovery, and sustainable development across Borno State.
