The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) under the leadership of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Mohammed G Alkali has called for the adoption of electric mobility in Taraba State, saying it could create jobs, reduce transportation costs and protect the environment.
The call was made during a stakeholders’ sensitisation workshop on the deployment and operation of electric mobility in the state, organised in collaboration with Attahir Enterprises Nigeria Limited at the C2C Event Centre, Jalingo.
In his opening remarks, the Taraba State Coordinator of NEDC, Mallam Adamu M. Lawan, said electric buses, vehicles and tricycles could improve transportation, connect communities and create new economic opportunities.
He explained that electric mobility goes beyond transportation, noting that it could support economic growth, encourage innovation and improve the living conditions of residents.
Lawan said the initiative aligns with the NEDC Master Plan’s pillars of Connected Regions and Protected Environment.
He also called on stakeholders to work together to ensure the successful introduction and sustainable operation of electric mobility across the state.
The workshop was formally declared open on behalf of the NEDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mohammed G. Alkali.
