Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The high-level meeting, held on Friday, is being viewed as a significant political development ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Borno State, as the ruling APC continues consultations and strategic engagements within the party.
Governor Zulum used the opportunity to commend President Tinubu for his continuous support toward peacebuilding, reconstruction, and development efforts across the Northeast region. According to the governor, the President’s commitment has strengthened stability and accelerated recovery efforts in communities affected by insurgency.
He further noted that President Tinubu’s leadership has continued to promote unity, cohesion, and progressive governance within the APC, particularly in the Northeast where the party maintains strong political influence.
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Zulum expressed confidence in the candidacy of Engr. Mustapha Gubio, describing him as a competent and experienced technocrat with the capacity to sustain developmental projects and good governance in Borno State.
The governor also reiterated the commitment of the Borno APC to supporting policies and programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, and economic growth in the state.
The meeting was attended by a member of the House of Representatives, Engr. Bukar Talba, alongside other party stakeholders and government officials.
Political observers believe the formal presentation of Mustapha Gubio to President Tinubu signals the beginning of intensified political activities within the APC as preparations continue for the next electoral cycle.
The APC remains one of the dominant political parties in Borno State, with Governor Zulum’s administration widely recognized for its focus on security restoration, resettlement of displaced persons, infrastructural development, and humanitarian interventions across affected communities.
