The National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a move seen as a significant development ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso’s defection marks a major shift in the country’s political landscape, as realignments continue among key political actors and parties positioning for the polls.
The former Kano State governor announced his decision at a well-attended event, where he expressed confidence in the ADC’s vision and commitment to national development, unity, and inclusive governance.
He stated that his decision was guided by the need to build a stronger political platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges and providing credible leadership.
Kwankwaso also called on his supporters nationwide to join him in strengthening the ADC, describing the party as a viable alternative for Nigerians seeking change.
The event witnessed the presence of prominent ADC leaders, party executives, and a large number of supporters who gathered to welcome the former NNPP presidential candidate into their fold.
Party leaders, in their remarks, described Kwankwaso’s entry as a boost to the ADC’s structure and electoral prospects, noting his political experience and grassroots influence across the country.
Supporters at the gathering expressed optimism that the alliance would reposition the party as a formidable force in the 2027 elections.
The development is expected to trigger further political alignments as parties intensify preparations for the upcoming electoral cycle.
