The Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another significant milestone in its ongoing counter-insurgency operations with the successful rescue of six additional kidnap victims in Borno State.
The latest development highlights the sustained efforts of the Nigerian military and other security agencies in dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring the safe return of abducted civilians across the North-East.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, the victims were rescued through a coordinated combination of air and ground operations supported by credible intelligence.
The rescued victims comprise four adults and two infants who were found in Talakawa, Chibok Local Government Area. Military authorities disclosed that they were among those abducted in Mussa community, Askira/Uba Local Government Area, during an attack in May.
Following their rescue, the victims were evacuated to a secure location where they are undergoing comprehensive medical examinations, receiving psychological support, and being provided with essential humanitarian assistance before their reunification with their families.
The military also confirmed that relief materials and other basic necessities have been supplied to help the victims recover from the trauma they endured while in captivity.
Operation HADIN KAI described the successful rescue as evidence of the effectiveness of the ongoing search-and-rescue mission aimed at recovering abducted students of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, as well as other civilians held by terrorist groups operating within the region.
The Joint Task Force reiterated that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Borno State Government, other security agencies, and local support forces, remain fully committed to rescuing every abducted person and restoring lasting peace across the North-East.
As part of the ongoing military offensive, troops continued pursuing the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal routes. During the operation, soldiers recovered 50 rounds of PKT ammunition abandoned by the insurgents, an indication of the intense pressure mounted on the terrorists by advancing military forces.
Military authorities noted that the recovery further demonstrates the success of ongoing clearance operations and reflects the growing operational challenges facing insurgent groups as troops sustain aggressive offensives against their hideouts.
